Now that the work is done, I feel like I can finally get this off my chest. NEVER, EVER, if you live in the Columbia, SC area, hire Live Oak Landscaping. Sure, they can build a pretty privacy fence, but if they build you a retaining wall, it may collapse. And here’s the thing, shit happens and stuff breaks, but it took them SEVEN months to fix it. Seven. I could have practically birthed a baby in that amount of time.
The retaining wall (which was finally completed last September after taking all summer to build) collapsed on 12/30/07 at 12:30pm. I was sitting on the couch studying for Comps, and saw it happen. They didn’t finish the work until last Friday, August 1st. Oh sure, they’ll tell you it’s too wet, then it’s too dry, then it’s too hot. There was always some excuse.
They also assumed that because I’m the little woman around the house that I was the one in charge of all the shrubs and the pear trees in the front yard. Oh, and he assumed I didn’t know what re-bar was. “Just ask Jeff, he’ll tell you what re-bar is.” Also, they wanted me to pay them the last small amount of money last summer before they were done with the work…? No, I don’t think so. You finish the job, I’ll pay.
Anyway, I hated them last summer and I still hate them. We just wanted them to do what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it.
This story is much better when I tell it in person, but I wanted to post something so maybe it will show up in a google search sometime and someone will read it and not hire them.
